The advantage of this is a ring without a pattern interruption. The disadvantage is that much more material is used than is ultimately needed. Producing seamless rings by deep drawing metal is a daily work process. Even though I prefer rings with a joint on many models, this form of shaping always has a fascinating effect. It requires a lot of sensitivity and experience as well as specially adapted and manufactured tools to make these types of rings. Of course it can also be done with simpler means, but the efficiency, the result and above all the fun factor differ!!
